President Obama's first State Visit

This week we look at the first State Visit to the United States following President Obama's Inauguration. The visit of India's Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh on November 24, 2009.

Arrival Ceremony

The visit began with an arrival ceremony where both leaders spoke of the deep ties between their two countries and gave hints of what was to come during the visit.

Meeting in the Oval Office

The leaders met in the Oval office to discuss the global issues that would shape the Prime Minister's visit and addressed the media with opening statements.

Arrival for the State Dinner

President Obama and Mrs. Obama greeted Prime Minister Singh and his wife, Gursharan Kaur, as they arrived at the North Portico for the State Dinner.
