To look forward we look back. The last time a Canadian Prime Minister was hosted for an Official Dinner was on April 8, 1997. Prime Minister Chretien joined President Clinton at the White House.

One-on-one meeting

In advance of the evening's festivities, Prime Minister Chretien and President Clinton got down to business discussing the issues facing Canada and the United States in the Oval Office.

Rose Garden Press Conference

Following their tête-à-tête meeting, the leaders gave remarks and responded to media questions in the Rose Garden.

7:15pm

North Portico Greeting

On arrival back at the White House for dinner, the Chretiens were greeted by President Clinton and the First Lady at the North Portico.

Before guests entered the State Dining Room, they were announced and greeted by President Clinton, Prime Minister Chretien, Hillary Clinton, and Aline Chretien.
